Pros

- Work is very easy - Free coffee - Flexible hours

Cons

- There is a culture of fear and suspicion towards any kind of new technology. (Upgrades to Windows 7 started to happen in 2014, Visual Studio 2010 is considered a cutting edge IDE, etc.) - Training of employees is non-existent. If you are planning to retire in the next few years, this is great because you don't need to learn anything new ever. If you are in the early or middle part of your career working at Thales will hurt your ability to grow. - While the work is extremely simplistic/easy, you will be flooded with large amounts of it. - The IT department is beyond incompetent. They regularly do things like disable all the build computers in the company (causing weeks of man hour losses each day), randomly uninstall libraries and essential files from test computers causing issues that you must then debug, and have been known to disable internet access to the whole company for weeks at a time for no valid reason. - Flexible hours are great, but if you choose to come in to the office early in the morning and leave earlier on during the day, expect your performance reviews to be poor, regardless of your actual performance. - Computer hardware is often barely adequate to perform the tasks you're given.

Pros

This is a great place to work. The benefits are nothing short of amazing. 20 days PTO, 11 paid holidays, 7% 401K matching, $5000 a year in dental with a mere $200 deductible. Work-life balance is great. No one in my group is working more than 45 hours a week - most are putting in 40.

Cons

I can't think of any.

Pros

- Great health benefits - 4% matched and vested 401K + 2% retirement - 4 weeks vacation - If you are a new grad, this is the place to come and enter and make mistakes while you learn because Thales management is very forgiving. If you are seasoned, you might not like this.

Cons

- Managers going to people's desks Friday evenings to make them work weekends. Weekend work usually means sitting there in case someone who is testing the system has questions. Most of the time you just waste your weekend sitting there. The director of software engineering can rub people in the wrong way, specially when he promises to come to work weekends along side of you and never shows up. However other directors, like the director of system engineering, she is always willing to do what it takes to get the job done. - Lack of organizational skills. Managers promise clients impossible deadlines, but the projects are always late and very poorly organized. Products always have a lot of problems upon release; its really annoying. - Each year the tools change for you to do your job. Seems like Thales doesn't recognize that its the company culture that is the problem and not the tools. So expect to use svn one year, git the next, etc.
