Pros

As a core member, you have the opportunity to make a direct impact on the community and affect students' lives. You are "thrown to the sharks," but I know this experience made me confront my weaknesses and grow as a person while raising awareness of the education gap in America.

Cons

Your experience and the challenges you face is largely dependent on the school where you are placed to teach - which you have very little control over.

Great values and ability to help children in low income areas.

Cons

Not a lot of life-work balance during the first two years of teaching.
