Pros

A good seasonal second job.

Cons

Management suck. When calling in sick, they say that I wasn't trying hard enough and this is from a person who never called in sick in two years. I was told by a prior employee that they want you to come in, go to the bathroom and throw up and then come back and work. Can you believe it? Its true.

Pros

Medium to Hard (technical rounds were challenging but fair) Approximately 2-3 weeks from first technical round to hiring manager round. - The technical interview rounds themselves were quite good and well-structured. - Interviewers were knowledgeable, engaging, and provided constructive feedback/hints during coding and design discussions. - The process involved an initial screening, a pair-programming style coding round focusing on core Java and DS, a system design and DSA round (arrays, binary search, linked list, file system design), and a final hiring manager round with behavioral and scenario-based questions.

Cons

- After clearing all technical and managerial rounds (which took a few weeks), the HR process became extremely problematic. - Faced significant communication delays (weeks of silence) and had to chase the recruiter constantly for updates. - Received conflicting information regarding salary expectations. - After a long wait and personal follow-ups (including reaching out to other Target employees), an "informal offer" was made which was drastically low compared to my current compensation. - Even after declining this, there was a promise to renegotiate, followed by more silence and lack of closure for several weeks. The entire post-interview phase was very stressful and unprofessional.

Pros

i like the employee discount and my coworkers in the area i work with. people are mostly happy to help and there’s a really nice solidarity in hating our jobs. also, sometimes there’s free snacks.

Cons

whoof, this’ll be a big one -horrible management (very strict/serious) -you get interrogated every time you call out -you’re expected to do more than what your wage is worth (i work in a smaller department with >10 people, so while being paid $15.25 i’m expected to run the entire show. whenever you’re unable to finish the extensive list of tasks, you get a stern talking to) -underpaid overworked -feelings of hopelessness -manipulative speech by the interviewer (meaning that they’ll suggest things will happen that never do) -did i mention underpaid? -busy day? you can either focus on guest service and neglect your other duties, or focus on your other duties and risk caught not helping guests. anything less than 50-50 split will have your TL pulling you aside. -expected to do things you’ve never been trained on -i got two days of training before i was working a closing shift on my own -TLs will glare at you for chatting on the clock and then will go and chat on the clock -my TL is useless. literally does nothing but pretend to be busy while leaving the super tedious/boring things for me
