Pros

The people are great. Everyone seems to be happy to come to work every day. Even though I expected a lot more as far as pay is concerned, the people that work at Target may be some of the best you will or could meet.

Cons

Retail. During this recession I would not advise any to take a retail position. Your livelihood is based on the consumer's likelness to shop at your store. How unfair is that? even though Target is hiring right now if the economy does not improve and this Holiday shopping season doesn't do exceptionally well I could see them beginning to lay off people.

Pros

If you need quick money, and you're in college. I came to work at Target because I needed extra money in college. It fit the bill, literally. I put about a 5 dollar bill in my pocket every hour and was then able to afford to go out drinking with my buddies on the weekend.

Cons

You won't really make it very far. I wouldn't recommend being a cashier as a long term career. Unless you really like to play with scanners.

Pros

Some flexibility in schedules, not 24 hour store, nice team members, excellent customers dependent on your location, some feedback is welcomed, but rarely listened to. I would like to share many many examples but it's difficult because in the name of "competitiveness" and the "health" of the company, workers are worked too hard in order for a few to remain wealthy. Bonuses still exist for STLs in each store - incentive for them to remain as profitable as possible, at the expense of every team member who keeps their store afloat. It's become an awful environment, and I find it hard to believe it's just a result of a poor economy.

Cons

benefits are expensive, ManaGers on duty are straiGht out of colleGe - with very little work experience and/or people skills, lack of respect to team members shown by manaGement, very little promotion from within, since new CEO in place (last year or so) communication is terrible, less and less flexibility with team, much favoritism is shown, company attempts to rid itself of employees who have more years in - they Get too expensive. Cuts to entire areas, cuts to number of team leads, cuts in personnel hours all make it very difficult environment, oppressive at best some days. Merry Christmas.
