Pros

It offers an opportunity to make advances based on performance and work ethic, independent of your education level. It pays better than many other retailers and provides a generally safe, clean work environment. For some full time employees there are affordable medical plans offered, as well as retirement accounts.

Cons

Management is largely unresponsive and unconcerned regarding the need for consistent schedules and time off. You are very likely to be scheduled to close the store one day, open the next, close than open, again and again without regard to your life. You may put in for time off well in advance, and be told the day before you must work regardless of your request and following their policy. If you are young, you will be treated as incompetent despite exhibiting responsibility, efficiency and hard work. Your attempts to voice concerns or suggest improvements will be disregarded.

Pros

Target is big on work/life balance with it's employees. I never had an issue getting time off approved if I let them know in a timely manner. I learned a lot from the opportunities I received at Target, however since I lack a college degree my future growth hinged on that.

Cons

Communication from Management to the rest of the employees is lacking. Timely feedback is also an opportunity area. Senior management plays favorites a lot as well. I worked in two locations and saw it first hand. There was a team member clearly qualified for a specialist position, but did not receive it and the lesser qualified candidate received that position. I am grateful that never affected me.

Pros

Target is a company that has allot of tenered executives, so that shows that it is a company that has room for growth. However in this day and time there are so many Executives that jobs are at risk. I believe attrition plays a large part in the separtaion of their Executies. I n this day and time allot of companies are having to down size and Target being a very conservitive comapny they are handling the down sizing in a more Perfoamnce based area. How all of a sudden your Executives that has been with the company for years all of a sudden have issues?

Cons

Target should have a better training program for their Executives. They hold you accountable for your own growth but that doesnt make since, how can you be acountable for your growth when you dont know what it is you should know as a new Executive.
