Pros

While Target can be humdrum sometimes, the way the whole team in a store works together is amazing. I've never been in a workplace I felt more comfortable with my coworkers and superiors. While we can have our hours cut when things are bad, we are given opportunities to pick more up to fill schedule gaps. Also, we are encouraged to drive sales to bring in more profit and thus more hours. In the end Target is whatever job you make it. Want to be lazy? Fine, you can do that. You'll reap what you sow. Want to work hard? It'll pay off with promotional opportunity and praise.

Cons

Pay is not that great and hours quickly get cut in times of a slow market.

Pros

If you are a cart attendant you can just go outside and go to sleep and no one will ever really know. they give you a walkie talkie so you know when you need to come in. you also get as many breaks that you want if you do the carts because no one ever watches you. i worked there for three years in high school and college and tey never wrote me up for the million things I did wrong.

Cons

pretty much everything starting with very poor managers. managers have no idea how to lead, they are just concerned with sitting in their office watching the clock tick. they will hardly ever help out the other associates, and when they try to they do not know how to do anything so they just slow things down. they have poor communication kills, they never talk to each other, so I would get told to do 5 different things at the same time, and if i did not do the one that each manager said to do first they would all get pissed at me.

Pros

This is a fast paced, fun environment. Perks include fairly high salary, pretty good benefits, some paid time off, and the employee discount. If you like working hard, getting your hands dirty, and managing people, making plans and meeting objectives, driving towards concrete results, this is the job for you. There are metrics for everything, and there are consistent visits from senior leadership to validate the metrics. There is a lot of room for someone who is hard working to advance quickly, if they can manage the people and deliver the desired results.

Cons

There are sometimes long hours involved. When the team fails, who has to step in and finish the job? You, if you are so dedicated. If you do not find out why the team is failing and correct the problem, you will find yourself at work for countless hours. You are responsible to correct long term problems, while dealing with the short term failings. If you never address the long term problems, you will never make it out of long days correct short term failings.
