Pros

Benefits within Target group stores, flexible hours- they take into the fact for part timers they have lives and the full timers work decent 40 hours a week, pay is based on work expierence and min wage. definately a good place for a college student or HS student to work at.

Cons

getting hired for a job position then being put into a totally different area once the job starts, work is redundant, team managers seem to be more strict then store managers, target has eyes and ears everywhere in the store which if you are a slacker they will catch you and be wary about using your employee discount while off work because if you buy anything with while friend they may think you are giving them your benefits.

Pros

The best pro? The end of the day. Going home. Getting approved for VTO (voluntary time off). Calling into work and not having to speak to an actual human being. Talking to the few cool people that work in this department of Target Account Services. The discount was a small pro, but after realizing what a terrible job you do, it isn't worth it.

Cons

where do I start? The entire job was a con. When I started this position, I was promoted from collections, so it definitely was a plus. It started out dealing mainly with people who had questions about the benefits of the target credit cards and retention (although the job description at the time did not include the fact that we had to do retention, NOT COOL) . The position soon became the dumping ground for supervisors. It eventually turned into escalation, escalation for collections, hardship programs/payment plans, and everything else that every other department didn't want to do. The training for the position is an absolute joke, and the trainers have no idea what they're teaching. I was requested to "assist' training several times. My manager requested everyone on my team come to me with questions about specific programs instead of him because "he didn't know about them". Seriously? These are the managers at this place. Now, onto the work you deal with. The people who mainly came in on the "specialist" pipeline were people who were escalated or difficult. Most of the time, they were cold transferred to us by outsourced Indian workers who would not give us a heads up.The people were mad about every thing under the sun. These folks are very verbally abusive, and the management at target expects you to deal with it no matter how derogatory it becomes. This is why everyone within the Guest Relationship Specialist department is either filled with feelings of self loathing or a total alcoholic. It's terrible to admit, but you have to drink to come down from the day. You put up with so much abuse from customers, it's soul sucking. I cannot tell you how happy I am that I quit this job and moved on. I feel like I wasted two years of my life. You put up with so much policy & politics, it's not worth it. Hours upon hours of abuse for a reward of a stuffed bull terrier? No thanks. I'll go elsewhere. WORST JOB EVER!!!!!
