Pros

-Pretty flexable hours, depending on who does your scheduling -make good friends to complain too -benefits aren't too bad, if you like $2000 deductables -nice discount especially on clearance -oh goodness I ran out of things

Cons

I don't even know where to begin-OK first turn around unless you hate yourself. The hours are flexable -if you consider 12 hours a week flexable. Management is usually headed up by the STL who is making way more than he should. Under him/her are twits (barely 20somethings who have NEVER worked a real job) Fat is also discouraged at Target, no executives I have ever met were fat. Thin and cute are good. Just look at their plus sized selection-it sucks. They have more maternity clothes? So if you are fat-bad, pregnant-good. Unions. Oh God not a union. Target hates unions. And why wouldn't they? Well if they had a union you might get SENIORITY. Target hates this. Everyone is equal :) That means that even if you have been there 10 yrs the girl they just hired can get more hours than you and maybe the day after Thanksgiving off (yes it does happen, not all people have to work that weekend-believe me, I have been here awhile.) Well that's fair isn't it? Thanks non union Target. I guess I won't pay Con Ed this month. If you work on the sales floor remember you have to: finish projects, answer calls, come up to cashier when needed (usually every 10 minutes) and answer guest questions on the floor. There is no excuse for not finishing your plate (yes I mean the projects). And usually there are only 2-3 team members on the sales floor for the entire store. Also don't forget carts. You are encouraged to get carts because they have problems allocating hours for a $7 hr cart attn. The phone constantly rings overhead because??? You guessed it-they also have a problem allocating hours for an operator. Sound great so far? If you cashier be prepared to work your ever lovin tail off. Please step off you lane to get guest, please put bags away, please clean you lane, please clean the toilet, please go get carts, please watch my break (here's the keys-dont' lose em.), and please watch your speed score, please get credt cards apps, please sign guest up,please, please, please.....If your on the flow team-your excused :) Write ups (when your naughty-and when haven't you been) will only happen if the following conditions exist a)you've been there too long and they want to weed u out OR b)your NOT young or cute. Now it doesn't matter if you do your job well, IT only matters that you make the lowest wage and the STL likes you, or you are cute. Remember CUTE is important. Make sure you are flirtable and laugh at all the right things and you will go far with Target. I remember one time I was busting my butt getting things looking nice and the STL was flirting with a team member who was doing zip, and instead of sending her a guest to ring up he sent that guest to me. He then proceeded to talk about his vacation while she looked all doe eyed. Remember I was busy, not just looking busy. Remember we (target) gives over ONE MILLION a week to charity we just forget the charity at home i.e the employees who get 12 hours a week and can't pay their bills..........So if you are thin, cute, like to sweat and have low self esteem come on in :) Have a fast, fun and friendly day

Pros

Lots of fun people in the same position! Great training program.

Cons

Managers and Senior Managers were more concerned with their own promotions and using their reportees to get ahead. Too much power given to the managers to make decisions about careers. Way too much work made out of small tasks and way too many processes in place to be efficient.

Pros

-Good pay and benefits when you reach management (Team Leader) position. -Can provide lots of hours, depending on your store. -Management track can be fast at certain stores.

Cons

-Can be extremely stressful. -Horrible pay and workload for hourly, non-management team members. -Underperforming and low volume stores very hard to work at. You end up doing 5 peoples jobs for the same pay. -Working environment totally different from store to store. Some stores are great, some are absolutely awful. -Executive management are usually overworked, overpaid and completely out of touch with their hourly team. -Your workload can double or even triple with no notice or recourse.
