Pros

Target corporation is probably a great company to work for. They offer good benefits and oppurtunity to advance. Each store, however, is not run the way Target corporation would like it. The store in So. Charleston WV is run VERY poorly. The, so called executives, do whatever they want. They don't treat everyone fairly and have many "favorites" They have a lot of good hard workers, but only reward a few. They cannot retain team members because of this treatment. The store team leader will never admit or change a decision, even if it is a bad one. I guess because of its location , this Target gets the worst of the people in management.

Cons

You don't get to advance unless you are a favorite. They don't use corrective action fairly. If the management doesn't like you - they set you up for failure. Even if you are a hard worker with great attendance.

Pros

10% discount at Target Headquarters is in downtown Minneapolis Free Samples There is really nothing beneficial from a career development or work/life balance stand point that is worth mentioning.

Cons

99% of people working there care more about what you look like and wear than what you offer intellectually - coming from someone who is somewhat fashionable. Management would rather "bucket" you into categories than listen to your ideas or allow you to develop. This didn't happen to me, but I saw it happen to a lot of really good people and hard working individuals. I left only because of the poor treatment of others. Watching good people with families being treated so bad that they quit just so Target doesn't have to claim more "Layoffs" is a poor way to do business. If you have a family (or plan to) your career will be over the second that little bundle arrives. Either that, or you will have to hire someone else to raise your kids. But hey, they give 1% of the money from credit card purchases to local schools, however, 75% of the people they approve for those cards shouldn't qualify. Someone could really write a book about how Target is the worst company ever.
