Pros

You have the opportunity to meet and help change the live's of new people every day. You will meet people from all walks of life and form a few close friendships (but be aware that not everyone has good intentions and will use your "friendship" against you if something doesn't go their way or if they feel it will advance their career in any way). Community outreach opportunities are abundant (but you cannot participate in many of them if you are scheduled to work on the day they occur).

Cons

No work/life balance. You will be expected to come in early, stay late, and work on your "days off" regardless if you've made plans far in advance (and given the guilt trip of the century when you absolutely refuse). These rules need not apply to everyone though- just to the few people who actually do their job well, go figure. Your job duties will change constantly, but you won't get training on said new responsibilities. If you volunteer to help with something- it becomes a permanent addition to your list of required duties. If you are overwhelmed with tasks (which you will be) and reach out for help with something, you better hope they don't mess it up because that will be your fault. When a collaborative team effort encounters a small snag- that will be your fault too. There's no such thing as sick time- you'll either have to take a dent in your paycheck or use your tiny amount of vacation time. When you notify someone you're sick and can't come in for the day (even if it's FMLA related), be prepared for a guilt trip because odds are, one of your other coworkers has already called off. You can request time off up to 2 months in advance, but you won't know for sure if it's approved until a week prior, making it pretty difficult to actually plan things. This is not a good place to be if you value time with family and friends. Raises are virtually non-existent. All of your extra time and work will earn you a yearly pay increase that is less than the yearly tenure increase a non-management employee receives just for surviving another year, regardless of attendance and performance. For a company that posts such large profits, you wouldn't know it if you were to look at the salary of a tenured member of "management". The benefits available to employees cost a lot and don't cover much. If you are truly seeking a professional career where hard work is rewarded, please look elsewhere. I know when it comes down to it, a job is a job- it pays the bills and puts food on the table, but if you really want to be valued for your strong woke ethic, values and integrity- this is not the right place for you.
