Pros

-Global reach -Breadth of product -Strong internal support system -Fair compensation -Excellent 401k program -Healthy benefit package -Ex-patriot job opportunities for the adventurous employee

Cons

Senior management has decided to follow a model similar to what Edward Lampert did at Sears, namely they have stratified the company into vertically integrated organizations complete with stand-alone sales, marketing, engineering, and (unfortunately) operations. The goal, a worthy one, is to create entities that are market focused and able to move more quickly to address the needs of those specific markets. What has actually been created is a bloated management structure (each division has a VP of finance, VP of operations, etc, etc) and an environment where there is ZERO incentive to work with other groups for the betterment of TE as a whole. The net result is a staggering level of in-fighting at the division level. Different operational groups will gouge an outside group if they attempt to build out of that industry-focused factory...all in an effort to inflate their EBIT at the expense of their sister division. From a sales and marketing perspective, entire customer industries are ignored in certain markets if the customers in those markets aren't large enough to justify having a direct sales person. Thus, a market that is heavy in the high-tech arena will have decent coverage but the industrial customers in that market will lack coverage as there are only so many industrial-specific sales people. Further, sales management flies over each other, calling on the same geography, creating an inflated cost structure. I've read other reviews that mentioned the politicization of TE, they are correct. If you're from the AMP or Raychem era you are definitely marked for removal. That cannot be disputed. This is a company that values one thing, Motorola experience. If you were with Tom Lynch at Mot (or with one of the folks that came over with him) you can expect to have a lofty position in the company, regardless of your experience in the IP&E world (and they don't appear to know interconnect very well). They are smart people, no doubt about that. They just don't know the products and their print position within their customer base is a testament to that. While the stock market seems to have a positive view of TE's prospects I'm left wondering if the analysts have taken a look at the book-to-bill ratio...it speaks volumes about the effectiveness of this structure. There are only so many consolidations that can take place (offsetting disappointing top-line results).

Avoid this company: you will suffer a long-term death

Pros

Given that this is an international organization, tasks are valied and diverse. Job can be interesting. It is a pity that this company has so many cons...

Cons

The control and commande culture of this company is agonizing and completely suffocating. You will feel totally oppressed. In spite of the ethical principles it proclaims, harassement and bullying are practiced and tolerated company-wise, particularly when the actors are people belonging to upper management. You will never be saved: you can lose your job at any time and without any consideration for your family and personal circumstances. If the company can go without giving you any indemnity you will get nothing, even if you have worked hard and long. This company does not know how to value talent. They prefer keeping mediocre people who simply execute orders. Your independent thinking will not appreciated. Upper management are for the most egocentric people who do not like others to shadow them. These managers will not allow you to (even reasonably) disagree. Completely toxic environment. Be careful who you make relationship with. If you happen to be the victim of a whistleblowing procedure, your colleagues will have control over your destiny. They will all be interviewed and you will be judged company-wide on those basis. Management does not have any vision or streategy: 3 re-organizations in 2011-2012. The company does not know where it is going. It pursues aggressive business objectives (20 billion by 2015) and raises the pay to high management, while it announces 4,500 job cuts and raises nothing or very little to the rest of employees. Most of HR managers are unhuman and unqualified. They are paid a lot of money while demonstrating no value whatsoever. There are many issues unrelated to your position or performance, which will disturb you on your job. This company gives a lot of importance to stupid people issues, which should be a non-event. TE Connectivity is a relatively flat organization where you will have difficulties to go up. Completely inefficient distribution of work: managers supporting secretarial work. Salary packages are completely discriminatory: you will be refused benefits, which other colleagues enjoy and if you try to argue you will be given plenty of lousy non-sense execuses. Do not dare to protest: this company is not an example of democracy, on the contrary.

Reality Check For TE

Pros

People on the site are hard working and care about what they do.

Cons

Executive leadership are clueless and don’t care about people. Predominant view is that people are the cause of all the issues on the site. All of the executives live overseas or out of state and rarely visit the site, so they are clueless to how the plan runs and how to lead it. The MLT team makes poor decisions that end up derailing projects only to blame the teams while lying to each other to cover themselves. End of 2021 site managers were forced to put 25% of their workers as a Needs Improvement, regardless of individual performance, resulting in massive attrition and a loss of their credibility to lead the organization. The CTO is a clown who wants to be an engineer vs an executive and has zero authentic leadership skills. He’s amazing and finding ways to blame everyone else for his inadequacy as a functional leader and had a real talent for demotivating his staff whenever he talks.
