Pros

The good aspect of working as a financial planning associate is that there are a few very great employees that will likely end up becoming your friends for life. The ONLY pro of FPSS was the friendships that were formed.

Cons

Horrible TMs; if you could rally up some of your worst ever experiences with a manager and multiply it by ten, you can be sure those managers are working at FPSS for TD. Simple examples include: -spreading rumours about their own employees -trying to embarass their staff in front of other employees when they just don't particularly like them -impeding on your career because of reasons unknown ( they actively try to stop you from getting other jobs - this is true in particular on repeated occasions with different employees. Was shown proof of this and is not hearsay) -they have no idea what you actually do all day -they are not sensitive to any disabilities you may have -completely unrealistic expectations of staff - they talk about other employees during coaching sessions - no flexibility for work, taking away the work from home option - don't let Dan's words fool you there is NO autonomy in the role - TMs also have no concept of their own role. They believe their job is something other than coaching and helping to prepare you for your next role. Zero help during your time there, including their actual job ( no help for escalation of issues you are better off figuring it out yourself and getting into trouble for contacting other departments on your own) - no support when it comes to resolution of conflict between yourself and the financial planner - lie to staff constantly about role commitment No work from home option anymore . Raises do not exist. An employee asked for a raise and was laughed at and told " we don't give raises in this department" . No real signs of improvement in department. They do not handle constructive criticism well. No training , good luck learning the role. This happens everywhere ; favouritism. They do not care to try to mask it. Very hostile work environment. Management has ego issues, likely this is where it all stems from. Nobody has any clue what GM does. They also hardly understand our role, so the changes made are usually very counter productive.

Pros

office environment, benefits, ATM, cafeteria

Cons

Inexperienced management, rude behavior, managers with extreme control issues, no group collaboration, inability to focus on what really matters. During weekly status sessions with management, was not allowed to speak as manager was a constant complainer and argued about everything. Was let go as I spoke to an internal client over the phone without permission.
