Pros

The culture. Our previous CEO Robert Dotson said that his experience from managing volunteer missionaries has really affected his leadership style, and it shows. After all, how do you motivate someone to do something if you can't fire them?

Cons

Unfortunately, more often than not, moving up the ranks and being recognized is more about who you know, rather than what you do. Also, rewards and recognition:participation should be voluntary, not compulsory. Also, if no one fits the bill, don't hand it out. When you hand recognition out on a monthly basis, it becomes lips service and musical chairs, and really feels like it's nothing special.

Pros

Good place to start a career and move along the ranks. Awesome development program for those lacking leadership ability. Once you get to Store Manager, advancement beyond is rare.

Cons

Development of sr mgrs to executive level is non existent. Its a broken process that they are trying to fix. There is no confidence in field level mgrs to assume role at the next level.
