Pros

still having a job, co-workers, work-from-home

Cons

Come to work here and you'll spend all your time justifying every minute of your workday. You cannot brainstorm with others to improve outcomes for the client if you don't have a billable code to charge the discussion to. Which is probably fine honestly, because the corporate-think culture cannot tolerate new ideas anyway. The current CEO says absolutely nothing when he talks except platitudes about working hard, giving more and more and more and more each month, not settling for less (than you can give), being the best the company can be, etc. He doesn't spend any time getting to know employees or learning about actual problems and is protected from the harsh reality of working for Syneos by 62 layers of managers. He will continue in the same vein until he leaves for another CRO in a year or two; on to an even bigger paycheck. Employees are expected to work more for less, work late and come in early, and be better than their managers are. If you don't have a lifetime of experience working at Syneos, you will not promote, and if you are talented and smart you will be gaslit into thinking you are never going to be as good as the people that have worked at Syneos since birth.

Pros

Working from home. This helps reduce daily exposure to a toxic internal culture.

Cons

There are significant and ongoing issues around diversity and inclusion at senior levels. Leadership and board composition lack meaningful representation, with very limited diversity and a noticeable absence of women in decision-making roles. • Despite strong external messaging around values and inclusion, the internal reality does not reflect this. DEI initiatives feel performative rather than embedded in accountability or leadership behaviour. • Culture is hierarchical and political, with progression often driven by informal networks rather than transparent, merit-based processes. • Speaking up is not psychologically safe. Challenging the status quo is discouraged, and concerns are frequently minimised rather than addressed. • High levels of disengagement and turnover are treated as normal rather than as warning signs.
