Pros

Some nice staff. Some excellent and should be leads.

Cons

A lot of staff are leads that shouldn’t even be allowed to converse with a passenger let alone be a lead! These “leads” have no skills in leadership and check in is often messy and difficult. No organisation, very short staffed. Often doing jobs (board a flight) that you’re not trained in because they don’t have the staff. Often left alone to board a full flight. Multiple CAA violations. The supervisors say they are here to support you, but will chat behind your back! They fire brilliant staff as well, even after one mistake but will not fire awful staff as management play favourites. Pay is so bad. So low for what we actually do, we do so much more, more work than the supervisor, who sit on their phones at the desk all shift and they get paid much higher! Abused daily by entitled passengers. If making small minuscule mistakes, expect this to be blown up and make it a huge deal and embarrass you on the WhatsApp groups! Staff often bully you if you are of different faith or neurodiverse!

Pros

Working with the aircraft is interesting.

Cons

Toxic, immature and unprofessional culture on the ramp. Constant racism, misogyny and homophobic chat makes it an unwelcoming job if you're anything but a white male. Witnessing bullying from team leaders and even supervisors brag about how they steal food from the night shift made me completely uninterested in staying in this hostile environment. The 6 on 3 off shift pattern means you can't have a social life and to make it worse they give you inconsistent shift times, you could work 4 hours one day and 11 and half the next. The work is extremely mentally and physically demanding as you will probably find your self sleep deprived on the first earlies. Throwing 120 bags on your knees is painful so you need to fit to make it bearable. All this for worse than average pay for an entry role, no thanks.
