Management has no interest in anything except bottom line - not employees or quality of products.

Pros

best and only reason to work at sur la table is 40 percent discount on full priced merchandise. Customers often receive better discounts than employees on sale items.

Cons

Only store manager is hired to work full time. You must give up your life from October until January and work every weekend even if you have worked for years weekdays only. New hires are not trained but just thrown in for the holidays. Store quality has deteriorated significantly over the past few years. Stores resemble discount stores with lots of big sale signs and poor quality items.

Good coworkers, interesting products, some interesting customers, employee discount.

Cons

Horrible management, zero training, if you are not able to self-start you will not be successful here. No guidance on how to sell products, but expectations that you will.

40% discount. Wonderful people to work with in stores. Great atmosphere when manager is in a good mood.

Cons

DM spends too much time micromanaging. Schedule will be rearranged with no notice. Upper management clearly doesn't trust sales associate or leads. DM always negative which trickled down through management to associates.
