Pros

Great customers who have an interest in food and entertaining. Most sales associates are knowledgeable and care about the work they do.

Cons

Clueless corporate management, totally disconnected to individual stores and their unique locations and customer base. No support for management at store level. Micro management style. Reactive v proactive company policies. Human resources exists to protect corporation from employees, not trusted resource for employee assistance. Corporate office adheres to policies only when their interest is at stake, double standards. Lack of transparency. Employees are used up and spit out. Company focused on creating a balance sheet that will some day attract a buy out, period.

Pros

Customers were fantastic, 40% discount on non electric.

Cons

The company used to be a place that "foodies" loved to work. Unforunately, it became a place where numbers and sales were the focus and customers and employee's took a back seat. Management has no idea how to properly manage and motivate their employees. It was always negative and you were treated like an idiot. How can a district manager give reviews when that manager never came to see the employee's performance? You can't judge by sales numbers alone. Current managers at store are not interested in leadership by example, they hide in the office, refuse to unpack shipments or assist employees on the floor and basically tell the employee's it's their job to sell, not theirs. No communication on company policy or training, you're just expected to know what to do, and when you ask, the manager's can't even give you a straight answer and/or they have no product knowledge because they are never on the floor.

Pros

Overall the customers are wonderful; they like to cook, are open to suggestions and return for more advice. Most sales associates are "passing through" met many over qualified, highly educated professionals that would not normally be in a retail environment.

Cons

Management seems to have a severe disconnect with the day to day operations. Holiday hiring consisted of employing up to 25 additional staff members, promising them 25 hours or more. Actual work was 1 day a week, 4 hours shifts, the 25 or more hours was really only available for 2 weeks during the holidays. Training is not consistent. Employees working for the company for three - fours years have not seen any pay increase in over a year.
