Pros

Customer facing role with nice regulars

Cons

Lots of pressure on meeting shop targets even when they don't make sense for the location/type of clients. No support when dealing with abuse from shoplifters and a lack of support from upper management with training and work life balance.

Pros

-Great people. -Everyday is different and interesting. -Good discounts.

Cons

-Often work far beyond reasonable hours- sometimes 6-7 days, without reasonable chance to take leau days later. Long days, early starts (5.30/6am, late finishes 9/10pm after midnight for stocktakes or promotion changes. -Allways on call, including night time alarm call outs -Weekend working including every Saturday and some sundays. -Bank Holiday working -Hot in summer, many stores have no heating or cooling. Rental cooling units can be hired, but lack of ventilation makes shop very humid. -Holiday booking challenging, when booking a week off rarely manage to get a whole weekend included as weeks run Sunday to Saturday

Thank you for sharing your current experience. We’re really sorry to hear you’re not fully enjoying your time in store. We understand our teams work extremely hard in this ever changing environment. If possible, we would recommend speaking to your area manager to talk through your concerns, alternatively if this is not an option, contact our people team who will be able to advise.

Pros

Good bonus scheme and care

Cons

Head of supply chain didnt want to replace staff because according to him they didnt do anything anyway Which left us working extra hours Noone else in the business cares for what you do or values it. You will spend your time doing all the behind the scenes work for buying while they then present it as their own in meetings, they dont realise the work put into the reports created so you wont get any thanks Promote the wrong people No career progression Barely any involvement in any meetings with senior team You wont learn or progress in this role
