Some obvious padding to reviews by management - Take from that what you will.

Pros

There are many good people who are sincerely committed to the company, their product, and eachother. You will make lasting friends here. The surrounding culture is dysfunctional enough that nothing gets done anyways. This means if you leave early every other day it won't really matter. Makes for a good work/life balance.

Cons

Respect by executives for even their immediate employees is little to none. Most employees feel ground to nothing. A constant loss of good employees is leaving the remaining people even more stressed than before. Instead of showing leadership, managers react to increasing stress by digging deeper into old rivalries. One of the reviews on this site is clearly a false review intended to inflate the score. I would probably have given the company a slightly higher score otherwise, but felt that should be evened out.

Thank you for your feedback. As we look towards moving to our new headquarters, we are undertaking a number of initiatives that will help us enrich the employee experience at Sunstar Americas. Part of that process is to ask our employees to provide us feedback through a number of communications channels, including our company blog as well as Glassdoor. It’s important that we receive feedback to help us review our employee experience at all levels. We would never ask any employee to write a positive review. We’re encouraging everyone to provide feedback to help us become a better company in the near and long-term.

Pros

Please don’t consider as an employer.

Cons

If you’re considering joining, please take all reviews as understated comments. Life at Sunstar is stifling, frustrating, lacks integrity in management and enables a culture which existed 40 years ago. Lots of long timers who don’t accept any improvements, leadership demonstrates “blind leading the blind” results. You will not learn anything, unless you’d like to brush up on 40 year old systems and ways of working. This is pervasive in all countries, not limited to US. HR has no presence, OLD systems (AS400 without even the full functionality of it! Imagine that?) employee disengagement is rampant, in all units, most functions. If you find yourself enticed by a title or salary, it is NOT worth it.

Pros

The company actively encourages you to work on your resume on company time.

Cons

The company is run by executive management that does not understand FDA regulations or requirements. Just because you have operated in a deficient manner for decades without getting caught does not mean you were doing things correctly. There is absolutely no long term strategic vision or plan, which is leading to chaos because no one from executive management can make an intelligent decision even when given all the information. They do not know how to do their own due diligence. The company has had, and continues to have, a long history of allowing directors and above to abuse lower level employees. Executive management fails to terminate problem employees and instead disciplines those that bring the issues to light. The environment is very hostile a majority of the time. Human Resources works against you not for you. Consultants are now running the company and abusing SAI employees. Executive management is too stupid to make their own decisions. Executive management failed to keep boundaries on the consultants and just blindly agrees with what they say, disregarding what long term employees have to say even though there are many with deep knowledge of the company. Executive management decided to host pizza lunches with small groups of employees every week to show appreciate and ease fear, however executive management just recites a rehearsed script and uses it to spread propaganda and smear other companies. This company had a lot of potential with the move to the new building, but it was too stupid to get out of its own way and squandered all potential. Stay away from this company. It likely will not exist within the next three years. The company is not doing well financially. There was a pay reduction during the peak of COVID for no reason. The company received a PPP loan, but used it to pad profits and is now using it to pay consultants despite laying off employees. The good reviews are fake or from employees that have worked for the company less than a week.
