Career momentum slowed down due to him putting his thumb on the scales, so I took another offer and a promotion, promoted twice in the new role after that.

Terrible management, high turnover, low raises, outdated tech and processes on every level, horrible treatment of employees and burnout. Don't expect to grow in the company unless you have nepotism on your side, concerns about working conditions and mistreatment will be largely ignored. Every couple of years a new consulting firm is brought in to assess and make cuts, and then members from that firm are hired in and it's a constant revolving door of failed process attempts and falling short in the industry.
