Pros

Promoting from within and being able to apply for any job after 90 days is an incentive for those that are new coming into the business. Depending on your job, you can go about your business and clock out at the end of the day without too much headache. Training is paid for and varies anywhere from 1-4 weeks with an incubator period built in to adjust to the job with more than standard support. You are able to get to know all of the key players early on (site director, operations, training, quality, etc...)

Cons

It really is one of those jobs that depend on who you know or are in the "in" crowd regarding advancement. There are entirey too many secrects kept from the general population regarding their jobs which impacts workplace satisfaction. Most higher ups all have their own agenda which negatively impacts not only communication within their own ranks but tha agent level as well. Churn is extremely high for a job that is fairly easy (come to work, take calls, adhere to your schedule, hit your metrics, go home for the day, rinse and repeat). It is true that the compentincy of the supervisors are fairly low and that they cannot assist their own agents on accounts they support. Which leads to hear say from the floor, which is mostly wrong, which causes upset customers. Individual growth and development is non existent as Supervisors waste much of their time BS'ing with operations and spending time in the break area. Sup calls are like pulling teeth when assistance is needed. And like so many other sites, there is always some kind of contradicting information wether it comes from HR or the Site Director. Everyone there just wants to collect a paycheck and to hell with the people who actually want to do a good job. Metrics standards are very challenging coming directly out of training which makes for a stressful ABAY period. You have really 1 week to adjust before corrective actions start coming your way. Some quit before they get fired. A big morale killer right out of the gates to know that if you don't shape up in 4 weeks you are fired. Recruiting sucks on so many levels as they always overfill classes to compensate for attrition, problem is training rooms can only seat so many people. Being in a training room and not having your own PC for several weeks is not an ideal learning solution. The training team is spread very thin having 2 trainers for 5 lines of business with no compensation definitely effects their performance as well. StarTek does indeed know how to dangle the carrot, but usually does not make good on promises made. People usually churn out of the business before StarTek has to act anyway. Every interaction you have is documented either during or after you leave in speaking with a manager. While I understand the process, it very much hinders the will for speaking freely as anything you say can and will be held against you should you F up.

Pros

I was hired as a Remote Customer Service Associate/Representative for National Grid in New York. Unfortunately, the training provided was insufficient for practical job requirements, focusing more on fragmented information rather than comprehensive skills. Despite this, the trainer was patient and kind. For Juneteenth, a non-recognized paid holiday by the company, the team was verbally offered early paid voluntary leave by the trainer, approved by her manager. Initially it was going to be unpaid so I and many others who celebrate Juneteenth did not raise our hand. Once it was confirmed to be paid, I took the voluntary leave and left with more than half the team. Later that day after leaving, I resigned. In response to my resignation, the company falsely claimed that because it was not an approved holiday by the company, there was no approval for us to leave early paid. In other words, no one left for this paid leave and it never happened. The trainer had gained approval for it, yet I wasn't compensated, seemingly in retaliation for leaving. This experience highlighted to me that this company does not prioritize ethical practices, fairness, or trustworthiness. Despite seeking help from HR, I was met with gaslighting. It's clear that this is not a trustworthy or ethical place to work. I recommend finding a workplace where you are valued and treated with honesty and integrity.

Cons

Dishonest management and a restrictive job.

Cons

This company is so unprofessional. I would not recommend to ANYBODY. I was given a date and time, as of yesterday 03/30/2022, for my first shift returning to Startek from a furlough, only to have a meeting today, 03/31/2022 in which we were informed we were all being let go. Startek let their employees sit around for a month after being told we would return, only to let us go. Startek does not care about their employees. All of the rest of the horrible reviews you see? CORRECT! Good luck.
