Pros

It is a great company that is incredibly flexible with it's employees. The compensation, with tips included, tends to be a bit above jobs of a similar nature while also having the options of benefits and other company perks such as stock options. The shifts can range in times to fit your needs if you are open about your needs when being hired. There are also plenty of opportunities for growth and promotion in the company if that is what you are striving for. Last, management is very open to listening to employees ideas and concepts which, when they are good ideas, can actually be implemented.

Cons

It is in the food service industry where customers can be a bit to handle at times. Additionally, the store I was in had a drive-through window, which could be fun at times, but also could create a bit of a bottleneck in the service. You also have a bit of a turnover with certain younger employees. There also, at times, can be a little high school like drama between some of the younger employees, but management was very good at rectifying these situations and pulling them out of the work environment. The other downside is you really smell like coffee at the end of the day.

Pros

-High school students would think this was a good place to work because it's a very fun environment and you get to meet a lot of great people. -The training is excellent and the existing partners are very dedicated to always accommodating the customer.

Cons

-The Starbucks I worked at was completely understaffed, so I was a full time college student working 40+ hours per week at the highest volumed store in NJ. Eventually I got burnt out because I asked for days off and it was impossible because I was the only one who could work at certain hours. If the Starbucks is understaffed, be prepared to take on a full load of hectic work. -The pay is not very good, at least where I worked. I got started out at 7.50 an hour and after 6 months I got a raise to 8.02 exactly. So if you need benefits, your paycheck will be pretty low and pretty disappointing. -The tips were actually not bad. They split them evenly, but you'd be surprised at how many people tip and how much it adds up. The more hours you work over the other partners means more tips.

Pros

Starbucks is an ethical company that is honestly trying to do the right thing for its customers, employees, and shareholders. Values-driven and fair.

Cons

Leadership 2005-present has no vision and is trying desperately to hold onto market share. The result for consumers and employees is a lot of confusion about what Starbucks is offering in terms of a differentiated product.
