It all depends who you're working for and where

Pros

Competitive salary and benefits (from my experience). Work Life balance can be good if you can turn off your desires to execute good work and resign yourself to disorganization and mediocrity.

Cons

Publicly traded company, so mass layoff occur when work isn't being won. As the title suggests, I believe the work experience will largely depend on your Sector, Office and Manager (as it would in many other large companies). Oil & Gas is a chaos. Too many chiefs, too many egos, too little organization, poor planning.... In terms of internal processes, what is right one day will be wrong the next, or maybe still right depending on which manager you talk to. You never really know. This could be said of many large corporations to some degree, but this is worst I've experienced in my professional career. I would never recommend.

They claim to put people first, but only (and always) after the bottom line.

Pros

I like the flex hours, and my direct supervisor is pretty okay. Free coffee/tea is always a bonus, and they provide quality office supplies (as you can see, I'm struggling to say many positives). I did learn many aspects of my specific industry and feel like I have gained many skills to move on to a better position elsewhere. Oh and company iPhones are a definite perk for anyone in a field or management role!

Cons

Compensation is below industry standard for anyone in a junior position. They spew out corporate slogans like "we put people first" and "we do what is right", yet refuse to live by these statements. Employees are undercut at every turn and FAR too much emphasis is put on utilization at the expense of actually doing the job right. Too many staff are incompetent and just fake their timecards, and yet management has no interest in investigating as long as we seem profitable (more important to cheat clients out of money I guess). Finally, perhaps those in very high-up positions shouldn't send around huge company bulletins about their private planes when it is completely unrelatable.
