Pros

Diversity of skills and staff experience, opportunities to network within the company, and potential to work in different locations and disciplines for the motivated and intellectually curious.

Cons

The company leadership answers to the shareholders, full stop. Several big acquisitions (Cardno most recently) have notably shifted the culture toward ever greater reliance on metrics reporting and zero-tolerance emphasis on utilization (the dumbest metric to track because of its ripple effects on other indicators, but the no-brainer first talking point from the management consultants). Risk management is out of control, but not doing what it's supposed to, presumably because of the competing profit motives exerting greater pressure on employees ans managers. It had promise at one point to follow a different path from the other AE mega-firms, but that's been abandoned as the institutional investors have pushed harder for squeezing more revenue out of clients. Its low-margin areas of innovation and distinction are likely not going to be around much longer. As a result, day to day interaction with other employees is increasingly transactional and competitive.

Pros

- Great team with lots of very interesting work and opportunities to learn new skills on the job. - Decent starting salary - Would have been a good place to work if not for Warrington office management and top level corporate decision making.

Cons

- Warrington office is soulless, toxic, and impractical to get to using public transport. - Promotions are decided by number of days in the office rather than actual work and contribution. As a graduate you will be held back in your career if you do not hit the target number of days in the office regardless of how good you are at your job. - Graduate training programme is fitting for 9 year olds. Abysmal and patronising with no focus on developing technical skills - Talk the talk of "putting period first" and caring about staffs mental health and well-being but couldn't care less in reality. - No point raising concerns with senior management or HR as you will just be fed the same blanket corporate jargon - Extremely negative vibes

Pros

The people and work events not organised by the business

Cons

Management at all levels. Especially at business director levels. The business has taken a complete wrong turn in terms of flexible working and its attitude towards staff, with minimal compensation increases. Apprentices and Graduates aren't given proper development opportunities, typically stuck doing the same repetitive technician work and are not given access to a lot of the software due to a lot of gatekeeping from the business stunting their development to ensure they don't overequip with you skills ensuring you can leave
