Pros
Good work life balance - most people's doors are closed by 5p Opportunities to participate in low cost employee health programs Nice campus Accessible by public transportation - and they pay for it
Cons
Extremely poor communication (in my particular business unit) Poor managers Most people who work here are lifetime non-profit people with no experience in the corporate world Insanely hierarchical, worse than any corporation I've worked for I realize this is an academic environment and it favors professors. That being said, if the university were run as a for-profit corporation, it would be out of business in a couple of years. In development, they set totally unrealistic goals - and there are zero consequences for not reaching them.
