Pros

First of all Elon Musk kicks ass and I am honored to work for him! Most people dream of a job like this! Don't get me wrong the job is a lot of hard work and you have a lot more responsibility than you do almost any other company. That is because we build and manufacture 90% of the rocket in house! I would recommend this job to anyone who is driven and wants to achieve the unachievable. Reusability, bringing human spaceflight back to USA, and trips Mars!

Cons

Long hours can get to you at times but the reward is 100% worth it!

Pros

Fast pace, get it done attitude, work is never the same for too long which keeps things interesting. Decent amount of time off and flexible hours. Short management chain means VPs are not far removed from day to day issues. Cafeteria is subsidized. Healthcare benefits are very good.

Cons

The hours can get to be very long, but the work comes and goes. Most weeks are about 50-60 hrs. I think the compensation could be better.

Pros

- Rapidly accelerated development rate of both hardware and career/skills - Little financial or bureaucratic constraints on engineering development - Energetic company culture with high expectations - Low latency on implementation of new ideas, approaches, processes - Nice perks: subsidized meals, free coffee/espresso drinks, launch/Christmas parties, nice computers/tablets, etc. - Nature of work is challenging and addictive. I don't mind the hours, not forced to work them.

Cons

- "Challenging and addictive" can still mean stressful. A balancing act is required. - Understandable growing pains as new roles and processes are created to accommodate company growth. On the other hand, this creates more opportunities for personal growth/advancement. - Some may find frequent changes in "strategic direction" challenging (others may thrive).
