Pros

Wake up everyday excited to go to work Work with the brightest and most driven/resourceful engineers in the country with an average age in the 20s Have the ability to influence change throughout the entire company if willing to put in the initiative Company allows employees to be self driven and take on projects/set priorities on their own Build rockets and spacecrafts. Enough said. People at SpaceX are focused on changing the world, not their own personal benefit. Hours are flexible as long as you get your work done. Lots of small benefits that really add up. I learned twice as much in 1 year at SpaceX than 2 years at my previous job. Hard work and creativity is rewarded, laziness and inefficiency is eliminated. Peer reviews are heard by management.

Cons

Work life balance (I would rather be excited and challenged 60 hours a week than bored for 40 though) A company filled with the top 1% of minds in the world will carry some strong egos. Design/R&D groups follow Elon's values much more closely than production, which has more of a militaristic chain of command feel Base salary per hour is much lower than competitors for engineers. This is offset by the "cool" factor and stock program.

Pros

It sounds cool to tell ppl you work here, and that is where the "pros" end. If you are a top tier engineer with a top education and aspiring ambitions - GO ELSEWHERE. DO NOT RUIN YOUR CAREER. ENJOY THIS COMPANY FROM A FAR AS A FAN ONLY - AT A HUGEEEE DISTANCE.

Cons

WALMART OF AEROSPACE. The company has a major cash flow issue. Be prepared to make peanuts for your salary -I've been here 3.5 years, and they have promised raises for years - that's a laugh. Also, the equity - it was not great when i first signed on, but admittedly better than my prev. company, I hear it is not less than 2% in equity - all in all -peanuts plus ""EQUITY"" that will calculate to about $20/hr after you work all those hours- like 70-80 hrs a week mandatory salaried. Awesome use of that Ivy League degree! Their rockets are priced low, which sounds great, except the slave driver heads of engineering and production force us to produce at alarming rates, turning rockets around in full completion in weeks. DO YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR FACE FIGURATIVELY PRESSED TO A GRIND STONE? YES? THEN JOIN SPACEX! The leadership team is young and inexperienced. Their recruiting team is a joke. Their university rep lies about how wonderful the company is, completely incompetent- a great reflection of the leadership team and business model, complete incompetence. It is a nightmare trying to communicate basic issues that cause setbacks. AVOID ANY ENGINEERING JOB HERE. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Pros

Working in a revolutionary company has been very exciting. Free coffee, free yogurt!, Young people working alongside each other to launch rockets. Everyday here we make history.

Cons

I started as an apprentice here, I've learned a lot of welding technique, but i want to learn different metals and techniques that other companies offer.
