Pros

Wake up everyday excited to go to work Work with the brightest and most driven/resourceful engineers in the country with an average age in the 20s Have the ability to influence change throughout the entire company if willing to put in the initiative Company allows employees to be self driven and take on projects/set priorities on their own Build rockets and spacecrafts. Enough said. People at SpaceX are focused on changing the world, not their own personal benefit. Hours are flexible as long as you get your work done. Lots of small benefits that really add up. I learned twice as much in 1 year at SpaceX than 2 years at my previous job. Hard work and creativity is rewarded, laziness and inefficiency is eliminated. Peer reviews are heard by management.

Cons

Work life balance (I would rather be excited and challenged 60 hours a week than bored for 40 though) A company filled with the top 1% of minds in the world will carry some strong egos. Design/R&D groups follow Elon's values much more closely than production, which has more of a militaristic chain of command feel Base salary per hour is much lower than competitors for engineers. This is offset by the "cool" factor and stock program.

Pros

- Fast paced - I never get bored - New and Fun - Everyone here is relatively young and the company is pretty new, we all know how to have fun. It is very enjoyable to work with my peers. - Brains - Everyone here is at highest knowledge level in each department. Learning something new everyday is a statement that is definitely highlighted here. - Friends - The people you work with here become some of your good friends and it is always fun to be around those you enjoy working with for most of the day.

Cons

Time spent - I can work long hours sometimes and it might be difficult to balance that for some, but it is still a great to be with others that experience the same.

Pros

I've been an engineer here for over 3 years now. Nowhere else will an engineer have as large an impact as here. Interns and new employees will be working on important projects right away, and you will see your project launch in months rather than decades. The turnover rate is not as bad as some reviews make it sound. Everyone that I know that has been let go has been given a legitimate chance to turn their performance around. I consider this a pro, because it makes my life harder when I am working with people who don't care about their work. Everyone at SpaceX cares about what they are doing

Cons

Yes, it is a lot of work. If rockets were easy, everyone would do them. If you want to read a book while at work all day, work somewhere else. Having said that, it is easy enough to manage your time once you get settled in. It is difficult at times to find the correct work/life balance, but that is based on the individual
