Not much development opportunities. Hard to move to other business areas in the company

Since the change in leadership, the overall work environment deteriorated significantly. I faced a particularly difficult experience under a senior manager whose approach made my role extremely challenging. Unfortunately, when I raised concerns through the ethics reporting process, the experience was frustrating and ultimately led to the case being dismissed. More broadly, I observed poor management practices, internal politics, and inconsistent progression opportunities. Certain individuals appeared to be shielded despite problematic behaviour, and micromanagement was common. The recent reorganisation process lacked transparency and support, with many employees feeling sidelined. Internal recruitment during this period also appeared unfair and poorly handled.

Too much politics , it’s almost like a plague. Fear of constant restructuring;specially since the new CEO got appointed. Goals are unachievable and some General Managers and plant managers have no people skills nor any business being a manager.

No learning growth, lazy lethargic blame game playing leadership, no guidance for freshers to progress in their career, leadership is extremely selfish, micromanages and employee has to flatter their managers alot for promotion. Overall culture is poor and not the best company for freshers at all. Only good for retirement.

Can be quite bureaucratic. Need line manager endorsement to pursue new roles.

Bad job security, Favoratism( you can land into any role if you have good networking which is nothing but boot licking of your line manager. I have seen some folks who are purely non technical has got sr data engineer role whereas some good data engineers are struggling to get promotion even after 4 to 5 years. Poor hike from last 2 years. And everywhere cost cutting.

Shell sometimes have very abusive managers sometimes.

The higher end management are just riding out til they retire
