Pros

Only Work life in some project.

Cons

Before joining ask below mention points to any college/unknown who is working in shell 1. Salary component is Half of Market value. 2. No increments they will multiple your hardwork with business factor. and business factor will always be 0. 3. They will give 33% variable of Basic, and at the end it will be 0.(If your basic is 6L then variable is 2L and finally they will company is in loss so it will be 0 for all) 4. They will give promotion after completing 4 year in shell. 5. No motivation, all employees are begging for promotion. 6. only selected employees will get hike and promoted.(2% of total staff) 7. no growth join at X package after 4 year you will have X+2. 8. Medical policy is worst, for 1L coverage you have to pay 20k. 9. Every year they will run one event to stop all promotions (reshape, resize, restructure, reorganization ). 10. Indian service based will pay more then shell( infosys, TCS ,Accenture, Deloitte). 11. learning is very slow, they will yearly GPA and IDP program just for showcase. 12. If you ask anything from Manager, they will say for HR and HR will tell manager. 13. No budget for party and goodies management does not have budget to pay single T-shirt or any goodies. 14 . Every guy is looking to switch from Shell all got bored.

Pros

Good pay and free food (to a certain extent). Big recognized brand. Business class travel. Safety is supreme. Lot of focus on this aspect. Flexible working. Work from home to a certain extent. Good work life balance. No one will ever disturb you on weekends or vacations and on working days also you don't have to slog. Unlimited sick leaves. Misused heavily and employees are to be blamed if this is stopped. Independence to try new things and getting recognized for it. Number of years of experience not the only criteria to land in a job group. This is making many employees unhappy, but I believe its a good thing. If you want fancy titles, this company is not for you.

Cons

Most of the IT work is outdated and legacy. May not give a lot of learning in IT space. People are expected to pitch into a lot of different areas which many don't like as they want to stick to their core competency. Lot of resentment by staff outside India due to their job loss. Indian employees have to be always on the toes to prove themselves. Most of the leadership hired from Accentures, Wipros, IBMs. They are hell bent on making Bangalore office another Indian IT services company. Things move very slow which doesn't give the feeling of IT. But then its an Oil & Gas company and IT is just a support function. Vendors are trusted more than employees. They are ripping Shell apart for years. Lot of things being done just to show off. Leadership does not have knowledge to recognize the real value. If someone is looking for long term onsite, this is not the company for you.

Pros

Nothing specific other than Shell Name

Cons

First let us accept the fact-Bangalore IT centre is a totally different set up, Shell is trying to set up to replace contractors for the only purpose of saving Money. So each and every thing setup here is different, the game is competing with low cost IT service delivery model.( just given example they will give you lunch coupon of Rs 50 per day , you can't buy any full meal in the world class canteen that they claim that shell has set up, you need to pay minimum 80 Rs to have lunch - need to pay from packet) Don't just compare your existing CTC and join here, your take home salary will surprise you, it's due to the tax policy. Didn't go by the designation and JD,  your actual role will be different, you will be asked to perform low level job. You will have surprise when you are about to complete your probation, your feed back will be filled by some contractors or someone who is loosing job else where ( whom you are replacing) if he gives good feed back he will loose his job, so you know the fact. Most of the new joiners will be happy for few months, later they don't know what to do. Your offer is valid for maximum 4 years, what it means you are required to do Same job for four years and you need to re apply again to maintain your job position You will be offered a joining bonus forcefully so that you will not leave, if you need to you have to pay with additional tax. Most of the employees are from Indian IT vendors of Shell, they will join as very senior level, you will find junior than you joining at very high level as they know some one and you will get frustrated. There is no work from home and they expect you to continue attending late night meetings from home as you need to interact other time zones. Stay Away if you are really interested your career!!
