Part Time Cash Wrap

Pros

I was hired on as a part-time cast member for cash wrap in August 2016 for a new store opening in Austin, TX. The 2 week training sessions for the new store opening were an amazing experience, we had incredible brand trainings and so much fun getting to know our cast mates and bond. We had a couple weeks to get the store ready for opening and were still given great training throughout the whole process. They also gave out a lot of gratis (free brand products) which was honestly my favorite part about the job.

Cons

I wish the hiring process had been more transparent about the hours they had available to hand out to a very large team.. only the full-time employees were guaranteed a certain amount of hours and the leftovers were divided among part-time employees (although I was aware of some issues with even full-time managers not getting enough hours to work..). There were some weeks I was not on the schedule at all and this was why I eventually had to quit working there (and also pay was also pretty terrible for the measly amount of hours given.) This is a corporate problem, not my store's management's fault. The store is 'given' hours available to schedule for shifts depending on sales goals reached, which doesn't really take "care and concern" for their employees into consideration whatsoever. They over-hire for their own convenience but don't care about wasting your time or how you're going to pay your bills.

Pros

Gratis, pay, beauty industry knowledge, special events

Cons

- retail hours - upper management is totally out of touch with the stores even though they do monthly visits - unrealistic daily goals and budgets that need to be met - your ability to grow with the company is extremely dependent on your store director or specialist. that being said, if they don't like you on a personal level, you will never advance - more and more of the people at corporate are jumping ship and that makes me worry about the future of this company

Stop The Micro Maneging

Business Outlook

Pros

- Fantastic Co workers, like family - Gratis is great - Great for students - Work itself is fun - Get to know many brands - Get to meet lots of people who work for brands - Lots of education opportunities - Co workers become friends - There is lots of growth within each store - Great stepping stone as an artist, many brands look for Sephora World Experience for other positions, esp Kendo Brands

Cons

- Everyone started getting written up at my location for stupid or petty reasons - Not enough hours, hours get cut, yet new people get hired while girls who have been there 3+ years still cannot go FT - Micro Mangeing is out of control. You have someone in your ear at all times telling you to hurry up or step away from clients, when thats not always possible. Youre told to complete full face services, including product picking, skin prep and the application itself in 45 min. This is difficult when clients expect glammed out cut creases in this time period - No commision. Every other beauty MUA job pays much more. You dont always make bonus every month or quater - Stop using gratis as incentives, just PAY MORE - Stop hiring power tripping 20 year olds as managers - Leadership will have meetings with you in the middle of your shift and make you cry and expect you to go back on stage - I hate being on greet. If I wanted to be a store greeter I would work at wal mart. - Theft gets in the way of our bonus but not all stores have LP. We are not LP professionals and shouldnt having to do jobs that are not ours - Leadership shuts down any new ideas - I have been working in colour for almost 2 years and I am not CM certified yet. They keep saying they will but they wont. - Cuts hours and then we have no one in the floor so our sales are bad. - Fraudulent returns get in the way of bonus, so do Reseller returns. We need more authority to refuse returns - We cannot ask clients who use products in an un hygenic manner to leave, this means someone will try on six mascaras from the tube, we must DIF them - It was very nice for a while but changes in mgm at my store made me really sad. Lots of girls are quiting, ones whove been there 2-4 years.
