Pros

-The guests and staff rock!! -The schedule was flexible but demanding -Work around people, with music in the background, and a cool aesthetic. -On paper, the mission and vision of the company are great!

THEY DO NOT PAY SUPPLIERS ON TIME I was responsible for organizing and hiring entertainment for every weekend and I spent a lot of time fighting with the financial department to guarantee the musicians, DJs, comedians, or companies got their payments. I brought all of my people (friends, acquaintances, friends of friends) to do gigs at the hotel and built a database filled with MY contacts. I started to feel unprofessional and morally dragged because even though the company was the one not paying, I was the one who hired them. I started to worry what this would do to me if I stayed longer and continued to burn bridges instead of building them. Many times it was months before the musicians were paid for their gigs. And I felt like my name was being dragged through the mud in the process. About a month after I quit several musicians reached out to me to ask if I could help them get their payments. I wasn’t able to help anyone because I was so traumatized by my own experience that I stayed out of it and I will never know if all of those artists from my first month out of the company were paid. Some events were negotiated with covers, and the deal was the artists would keep the full amount of the covers if we sold a certain amount at the bar. Most of the time, artists would earn 100% of the covers (per our agreement) and my boss would make me ask to keep all that money and ask the artists to give us an invoice and then we'd pay them. Oftentimes, artists wouldn't see their money for months. The company would, in fact, eventually, pay. But I had to deal with weeks of angry people messaging and calling me asking for their money and having no answer to give because the answer in the company always was “we’ll do that this week”. IT WAS DETRIMENTAL TO MY MENTAL HEALTH I was personally going through a hard time and I know I made mistakes and this place truly saw the ugly sides of my persona. But it has to be the MOST toxic work environment I have ever encountered in my life. The anxiety I developed is so bad that it's been months since I quit and I am still afraid someone in the hotel's management team will read this, figure out who wrote it, and they'll somehow try to get back at me (because I still feel like these random people have power over me). I write this extensive review in hopes that fewer people fall victim to Selina. Also, hoping that people with power in the company see this and work for change. I could continue writing about all the different ways they scam creators, photographers, artists, musicians, DJs, and so on.

Pros

This place has potential to be great with the amount of space and area.

Cons

This place is a mess!!! All 3 f&b facilities are run by the gilded group. They have created a work environment that enables sexism and sexual harassment. Upper management also has created a toxic environment by the abuse of alcohol while working. They have high turnover of management and staff for these reason. In my opinion if you want to work in a supportive and professional environment DO NOT WORK HERE!
