Pros
The pros are few & far between! I've made some friends & some enemies! They do provide uniforms & all in all it's a fairly clean job.
Cons
Salary should entice you to stay, not freeze. You'd think that after 90 days, you'd get a raise, not the case where I work. You might also expect a shift differencial, not at my facility. Supervisor should follow same rules as officers, not have their own set. If there's no smoking in the building, that should mean in their office as well. When they are rover, they should rove, not sit in their office all day. You should have a set schedule, not be bounced around with 8 hour turn-arounds. If there are enough employees, you should have a schedule that doesn't vary unless someone calls in. There's too many call-ins at my facility. One would think the uniform would have the ability to draw respect, but it's just the opposite at my particular site. It's almost a joke. The people that we're hired to protect, don't respect us & rarely pay little attention to us when we're trying to do our job.
