Pros

Employee discount, high starting pay ($10/ hour for Beauty Advisor), free product samples.

Cons

The company is currently undergoing lots of unnecessary changes. They are cutting store coverage & allotted schedule hours & telling employees they can’t afford two person coverage in their BUSY stores, while giving every store iPads, music system upgrades, store renovation projects, even EXPANDING STORE HOURS! We’re already open before every store in our strip every day. We are expected to put away 70-90 boxes of shipment in 2 days with only one person, that person is also supposed to be the “girlfriend in the know” & kiss every customer’s butt & be a personal shopper. Another thing I have a huge problem with is the fact that our store safe is behind our cash register in view of the customer. We have to preform cash strips every time the registers go over $200 & so we’re handling large amounts of money in the store in front of people all day long. Alone. Our district has had several (6, I believe) smash & grab incidents where people have broken into our stores during closed hours & taken expensive tools. What’ll happen when those criminals learn there will only be one person in our store at any given time? The company doesn’t care about their employees. No benefits for part time employees & only managers are allowed to be full time. As a licensed cosmetologist, when I first started here I made $1 per hour more than the non-licensed beauty Advisor. Since they’ve changed the policy & raised everyone’s pay to $10/ hour, I now make the same amount for my knowledge, time, & expertise as your average Sally Sue walking in here looking for an after school job. If that’s not a big middle finger to my craft, I don’t know what is.

Pros

Samples and employee incentives are all that's left.

Cons

Too much workload for too little pay. Starts new managers higher than your senior managers who have stuck through the awful transition to the "New" Sally Beauty. They basically terminated half of the DMs and TMs to cut costs and it's been awful since that happened. Oh and don't expect a decent raise even when you're a top performer and won a Presidents award last year, I could only get 1.00 more per hour and it took 6 weeks to get. I gave up at that point and got a different job. Also, you will have extremely lean staffing, expect to work by yourself and help dozens of customers with no break. Watch your merchandise walk out the door, hope you can keep giving amazing customer service when you came even help people because you are so busy. You also may close by yourself so expect unsafe working conditions for you and your staff! No extra hours given to train new stuff or update the stores, these things are expected to be done while you are helping customers during business hours. Ever since the transition, I have seen my DM once in 6 months. Basically you are thrown to the wolves with zero support.

Pros

Some amazing people, employee discount, hybrid work. Great diversity focus, you can be yourself fully.

Cons

Leadership is beyond unqualified. Panic and kneejerk reactions drive all strategy. High turnover, and frequent terminations that come from nowhere. Not enough people to actually succeed, work load is so heavy that burnout is high. Between firings and quitting nothing can move forward.
