Pros

1. Discount 2. You CAN have a little fun if your coworkers are chill

Cons

1. Terrible pay! (I only made 8/h as an asm..) 2. Redundant planogram resets 100 times in a month that are not even worked out on a real 4x8 gondolla to make sure items fit. 3. USELESS IOM/EMAIL/EPP SALES THAT NO ONES CARES ABOUT, or lose your job. 4. Over expecting quota and "3 itmes per bag" and keep a high average sale or lose your jobs as well. 5. EXCEED a ridiculous high quota, or get disciplined. 6. Customers will NOT ALWAYS listen to the advice and cuss you out later for "messing up their hair" when you don't even touch it. 7. I could go on

Pros

Free products every month The employees get the lowest prices for items Really easy job The workers at my store are extremely nice and welcoming

Cons

They don’t train well at all. At the sallys I work at everyone shares the register so if it’s messed and it says you owe something (and you happen to be closing) you have to put your own money in there even if you weren’t the one who messed it up. The pay is absolutely horrible. It’s typically $8.00-8.50 but my store just got a raise to $10.00 an hour. The hours are horrible. The lowest amount of hours I got was 4 per week and the highest was 17. It’s never steady . They can go in the system and edit your clock in times (so if you had to clocked in early and for some reason you had to stay later you won’t be getting paid for the extra time you were there) Management is constantly complaining about selling ioms, BCC to customers, and EP’s yet most customers don’t want them (that’s how we build our check). Some staff members are lazy and they don’t want to check out customers, clean or do anything but go outside and smoke then come back inside to watch Netflix. I heard stories about how a couple of employees from time to time would take money out the drawer because they need it and they’ll “pay sallys back” and the managers will allow it . Mainly because it was the managers and assistant managers that do that. Too many employees have been abusing coupons for their friends and family and it makes work for other employees harder. They managers fail to tell the new employees the codes for professional discounts on certain products. The new people are constantly getting blamed for not knowing how to do something . Most of the people who work there constantly talk down on the company because the pay isn’t good, the hours are horrible and they can’t do anything to make a customer happy without violating the company’s rules. There’s been too many times when customers want to return something but they don’t have the item and/or a recipt and they get mad when I can’t return it . But somehow the managers can magically go into the system and find ways to return an item that’s not even in the store without a recipt . Sally’s constantly gives out coupons at the wrong time and customers take their anger out on us when we can’t honor it without violating the sallys rules. There’s a lot of gossip about other employees at Sally’s and it’s stressful when you constantly are put in drama. We have a lot of broken equipment at Sally’s that should of been replaced months ago but sallys doesn’t listen. The employees are constantly put on blast by the managers in front of customers and other employees. The new people are constantly being left alone and are told to text/call someone if they need help and sometimes it’s a huge line so we can’t just do that without customers thinking it’s unprofessional.

Pros

Nice discounts and helps keep you on your toes with all the product knowledge. Good if you’re a beauty enthusiast or a professional.

Cons

I worked for the company over a year at 2 different locations. My first my manager was fired and an outsider was brought in that I, a new employee untrained, had to help train. I was told I was not able to visit my terminally ill mother for Christmas because December was a “black out date” and that I should’ve been told that when they hired me. Our district manager had caused over 25 people in her year to quit because of how horrible she was, meanwhile the territorial manager completely knew and did absolutely nothing about it. Our manager quit after 3 months of obediently following corporates orders ( which were always super unclear and contradicting) and our dm finally got fired and we were left without either for over 4 months. I was acting manager, working open to close (12 hours) at least 3 times a week with a total of 60+ hours every week paid barely above minimum wage. I then transferred to a different store where all the new policies are starting to come into effect. We will be graded on our quota every week and if satisfactory, will be fired on the spot. We live in a lower income area that serves mostly professionals, but instead of focusing on actually helping the customer, they want us to recite some ingenuine script because they think that will sell better. We were told that corporate has flat out said they will fire entire stores just for not selling enough “items of the month”, Including managers. So my managers that have loyally been with the company for over 20 years, means literally nothing to Sallys. All our hours including managers are cut, and part timers will be lucky if they get 15 hours, BUT we HAVE to have open availability or they will fire us. So they expect us to live off of 15 hours a week with no other sources of income because they gave employees a “raise” which has become obsolete because in our area minimum wage will be more than it in less than a month. . We are now asked to do twice the work to makeup for the money loss the company has taken because THEY MAKE BAD DECISIONS like giving out hundreds of coupons, keep prices high on cheaply made items, and alienating the employees that actually give it their all to the company.
