Pros

The main Pro's when it comes to wroking for sally beauty 1- Great Benifits package 2- DPSP 3- Store Hours 4- Employee discounts 5- Sales incentives

Cons

The main downsides for working for Sally Beauty is the way they go about deciding what a perspective employee is actually worth. They base the hourly pay rate on certificates / licences so if you are a licenced hair dresser or have a certificate to do nails / makeup you will receive a better wage even if you have no experience and even if you know nothing aboout any of the products that are carried in any of the stores.. Now if you do not have any licences / certificates but have many years of experience doing hair / nails / makeup and have used all of the products in the store and are able describe how to use / results that may be recieved from a product better then a employee with a license / certificate you who knows more will be offered a pay rate around minimum wage. The company does not seem to value there employees and the hard work they do if they do not have that piece of paper..

Pros

Some of the regular customers were great, most of them were professional hair stylists so they knew already what they were looking for.

Cons

Where do I start? The manager was horrible. I was hired as a non professional when it comes to hair styling yet the manager expected me to know it all and when I had no idea on which bleach or developer to recommend to a customer she would throw a tizzy fit because she had to help a customer. It brings me to one point of working here: do NOT apply here blindly, you should make sure you know about hair and coloring it because you WILL get questions about it. If you work here, also do not expect any compensation such as raises or advancement. I can only suggest this job to people in hair styling who need an extra paycheck. NOT for beginners.

Pros

Flexible hours, good for a side job and good for a student who is looking to save up some money

Cons

Horrible Pay. They start us at minimum wage and that is worth NOTHING considering all the things we have to know and the rude customers that we have to deal with everyday. This is a Multi-Million Company. The least you can do is pay your employees a little better. Upper management doesn't care at all about us. The incentive Program is a sham! The company charges you 8% of the taxes from the things you get with your points from you hard earned paycheck and they don't even tell you about it. There is NO incentive. You can't get time off until you have a certain amount of time with them. We never get recognition for the things we do right. All they care about are their stupid numbers. The registers SERIOUSLY need an upgrade. There should be cameras int he store so we don't have to follow customers around in fear that they may steal something. Their raises for evaluations are HORRIBLE. There are really no changes for prospering in this company.
