Terrible, rude managers. They treat you like you're not even a person.

Pros

Overall, I enjoyed the teams I worked along side, with the exception of the first-line managers and DMs. I learned the basic psychology of sales, and how to give good customer service. Also, merchandizing and managerial skills were developed as well. The schedule was flexible for me as I am a student. Also, vacation time (PTO) was the only benefit I recieved there.

Cons

Very sales driven atmosphere, as most sales assoicate positions are, but no comission is offered nor any raises for consistingly meeting or surpassing established goals. I worked there for years and the highest raise incrument I recieved was twenty cents. District Managers are chronically degrading. First-line managers tend to have difficulty fulfilling the operations expressed by middle managers, and furthermore are disrespectful to their team members.

Pros

Was fun waiting on customers and helping them with their hair concerns, Great health benefits,Loved recieving the product samples each month.

Cons

No communication between our DM,s stores, D.M. constantly told lies to each store, Felt i could,nt get a straight answer to my employee rights. Employee handbook was,nt clear on many issues, Was told i could,nt actually use my sick days, If you were sick there was no one to cover for you. Some days you needed a personal day. At managers meetings, Everyone always looked unhappy, Like they were broken down, beaten by the company, But still stayed. Major negatism throughout the whole company, T.M. was very unrespectful and condescending, Like he was on a power trip, Out to destroy the souls of the hard working and dedicated Store managers. I,m sure the S.M.s did,nt start out that way! Being beaten down for tiny mistakes, such as a shelf 1 notch down, etc. Was ridiculous, Instead higher ups should have focused on the bigger picture, Were your sales up, Customer counts up? It was extremely demeaning. Just by each store working as a team, sharing information, tips that work, Empowering your staff instead of tearing them down. Insecure higher ups were threatened by that type of employee. Everyone matters and we all make a difference when treated with respect, In return you get respect.
