Pros

Can work from home (but its offshore - lots of late night calls) The Data Science team is new and small - could be a place to make a mark

Cons

It is basically a statistical analytics team right now - not a big data team, and probably no scope in the near future. You can expect to split hairs running all your code in R (team preference) on a single node. Be very careful about the terms of offer acceptance with this company. The HR practices are very craftily designed to trap employees into a unilateral job agreement where they reserve the right to fire an employee with 1 month notice (0 if tenure < 6 mo), while the employee is bound to serve a notice of 2 months. This is a policy exceptional to this company so far in my experience and no educated person would want to sign such a document - except one doesn't really have a choice once already resigned from previous work place. Basically, this is a company that wants to squeeze employees, than be friendly to them.

Pros

Stable company. Pretty big but generally good environment. Salaries are not very competitive but, if right talent, probably can get a good offer. A lot of smart people and technology is complex (a lot to learn). High market share in US and Latin America but not bad outside either. Company trying to transform itself into a true technology company.

Cons

Global Distribution System (GDS) side (Travel Network) is the cash cow of the business and the whole business model is under a threat (although the threat has existed for a long time). As company is trying to become a true technology company, it is stretching itself a bit so there are layoff cycles. New outside blood is being brought in that is a threat to old-timers but also threatens to push out the deep knowledge of industry and the system. Salaries are not very competitive but new hires can probably demand more if the right talent.
