Pros
Pay is adequate, benefits are good, job security is virtually guaranteed if a) you work at corporate, b) you don't make waves, and c) value internal politics over personal or unit productivity. Sense of urgency is an unknown concept in most units. This company and its culture would never survive in a public-company setting.
Cons
Senior management provides little leadership and less vision. CEO is a great technologist with no respect for how business gets done. Sales teams are regularly belittled in regular CEO videos. If you work for SAS outside of the corporate environment, you are looked upon as a 2nd class citizen at best. While company's loyal user base will provide a revenue cow to milk for a while, more nimble competitors will erode the fortunes of this one-trick pony.
