Pros

- Good work-life balance. - Decent benefits (although becoming less of a differentiator as other companies catch up). - Great campus facilities (subsidized cafeterias, work-out facilities, On-site daycare/healthcare/prescription). - Friendly co-workers.

Cons

- Stalled growth has limited raises, bonuses and profit sharing. In general, performance isn't tied to these anyway. Everyone gets the same thing so why bother putting in hard work. - Absolutely no career advancement. None. - As a younger person, SAS is a career suicide. I loved the company but had to leave to move forward.

Pros

Live and work solely in Cary, NC

Cons

If you want to be treated as awfully as humanly possible...join SAS. Think of what’s truly the worst scenario for anybody who is creative, innovative, self-motivated, caring and a productive employee...then eliminate all hope, compound it by a factor of 20...then you might be close to the level of deceit, self-service, discrimination, mistreatment, abuse, neglect and insanity known to mankind. That’s SAS. That won’t change. Company is doomed but more so, you’re doomed if you get swindled into working there! Customers of SAS are in even a worse position than SAS employees. Run and don’t look back, ever.

Pros

Free M&Ms Nice campus Great health insurance Can retire in place Nice people. Tolerant of everything except demands for accountability.

Cons

Little opportunity to advance Horrible technical management tolerated. Little accountability Matrix management org. Managers can evade genuine software shortcomings by scamming priority settings. While nonsensical external "bugs" can be escalated based on $$$, internal bugs can be postponed forever. Infighting between teams, via abuse of internal bug reporting and prioritization, tolerated/ignored. Internal tools are non-standard and complex. Time spent learning is a career dead end. C is everywhere, and it's super non-standard. Almost no C++. Java work at least builds transferable skills, but the anointed get way much leeway to pad their resumes by foisting nonsense onto everyone else. The Agile infestation is alive and well here. A few sensible principles in theory, thoroughly perverted in practice, cynically misinterpreted and exploited by the usual rouges' gallery of hucksters getting paid for their "expertise".
