A wasted career

Pros

A great place in the beginning with great security at first. Compensation here is rather good.

Cons

Unethical behaviours. Leadership is comprised of a sycophantic culture willing to create false successes for self aggrandizement. The culture among colleagues is continually harmed by the foul leadership. It is a CYA culture. There are critical dangers to the final product due to inefficiencies of schedules and infrastructures which are crumbling. Honesty is not welcomed here.

Pros

The name on your resume

Cons

Severe lack of diversity, a bunch of sub par mediocre unqualified managers who micro-manage, delegate every aspect of their job because they lack the skills to perform their job and make you feel like if you can't do ten individuals job in a day, something is wrong with you. Very dated culture representative of 70 years ago. The promote poor leaders who are ineffective just because of tenure and so there is no innovation or progressiveness. Intimidated by talent. All systems to escalate are a joke.

Pros

One of the UK's last Great Companies. Poised for massive growth. Truly multinational, great opportunities . A new wave of technologies coming to market right now.

Cons

Raft of new leaders with no industry knowledge, but they are great new people too. Very easy to get passed over if you get stuck into the work, and don't actively promote yourself. Derby is not an exciting, or cultured city. You need to commute to work, or else for culture and entertainment. Development focuses on grads and a small high potential pool, but have already said you have to drive your own development, then it is amazing what can be on offer. As some people have pointed out, there is a lot of process, but RR can't be like Google in some ways because the products and services are normally safety critical and in highly regulated industries. So if you don't like process, and controls, then aerospace, nuclear and other industries aren't a natural fit for you.
