Pros

Good pay, family friendly, good opportunity to travel international, great exposure to complex systems, a lot of job security, overall nice offices (meridian center is awesome), people are nice, most of the people are bright. The hours are reasonable. Management is very understanding if something happens. If you have a family work here because it's great for your demographic.

Cons

Put the brand name aside, this company relies too much on their name. Majority of the employees have been working there since Allison/GM years (20-40 years), therefore, you have a large amount of people who are complacent with their job and have no desire to climb. The company is lacking a real "hunger", e.g. Hunger to improve the system/push the envelope/ put more into the job then just the 9 to 5 mentality. Everyone looks at the job as just a job and are not passionate about the company. Recent hires come to work for rolls and get married within a year and get comfortable and lose the drive to improve like everyone else. I'm amazed the amount of people working at this "top innovative" company who actually do NOTHING every day. The old dinosaurs most of the time do nothing and are okay with doing nothing and the company continues to pay for their 8hrs!!! Also the politics to get something done is comical. Meetings to have meetings. The Brits hate making a decision and taking risk but hey they love arguing moot points. No wonder GE is the best because they are not afraid to take risk!!

Pros

people are generally good to work with, lots of opportunity to learn across a wide range of disciplines if there is ambition to do so

Cons

Process-driven to the point where administrative tasks are the bulk of engineering jobs. Very poor decision making by senior management, as well as being "out of touch". Extreme amounts of politics between departments and management.
