Good discount

Business Outlook

Pros

Get 40% discount which is really good. Hours are good and fit around everything. Everyone is usually friendly and it is a good place to work.

Cons

Pay is bad for under 18s as its £4.65 which is not good when 18+ are getting paid £6+ and under 18s are doing as good a job as the older people.

Top benefits but no support

Pros

40% off for staff/ 50% off for management RI Rewards (groupon-esque site for employees) Free uniform 6ish times a year Very good progression from smaller store (I believe flagships are much more difficult)

Cons

Progression is often forced on you before you are ready to be a manager. Very poor handling of theft in store - nothing done! Disciplinary action for things which happen when you are on holiday/out of store. No support in helping to recruit (new system takes a long time and recruitment team ignore your questions.) No support in finding new managers from Area Managers. Important emails ignored by Area Managers so you're never quite sure if they got the message! Training often rushed and incomplete. Salaries are definitely NOT competitive. Managers are NEVER allowed a weekend off without using up holiday - not even to visit family. Holiday entitlement minimal - managers and employees get the same! New contracts sent though state you must go wherever RI tell you, you cannot take any of your friends with you, and you cannot earn money in any other way. "Fully devoted to River Island"
