Pros

- Remote work - Steep learning curve - Smart peer sets

Cons

While you have seen firms fail because of poor liquidity, product, vision, etc. the biggest things that stops Revolut is its high attrition and work pressure So let’s compare (source: LinkedIN) - Top valued firms such as Microsoft, Apple have avg tenure or 4+ years - Fintech companies such as Nubank, Wise, Monzo have avg tenure of 1.6-2 years - Even a cut throat consulting firm such as BCG has 2.3 years of avg tenure - whereas at Revolut the avg tenure of 1.2 years Yes this is 70% lower than big tech and 30% lower than other fintechs. This precisely means that there are nearly 50% chances that you might not see a colleague after 1 Y at Revolut Sad right?, this gets much worse for you if you are working on long term initiatives, where there is lack of knowledge transfer, ownership, motivation. As a result people just pick stuff that can get results in 3-4 months. This is precisely the reason big firms fail, as no one sees the direction of Titanic. Don’t forget they have a brutal recruitment, probation process. Only the best make it. Despite having the best folks people quit in 7-10 months after probation. You ask why? - Strict quarterly review ( yes your performance is evaluated every quarter as a result you are on the treadmill for ever) - If you get rated average - or unsatisfactory be ready to pack your bada - Team attrition, pushy leadership, no space to relax eventually makes smart people burn out faster than in IB or consulting - Everything is KPI, so all inputs / outputs might have zero impact if you are stuck in a rabbit hole department I would say do think through before joining, talk to few folks in the firm.

Hello! We appreciate your review! Revolut is a rapidly expanding and dynamic business. We’ve accomplished significant milestones within a remarkably brief period, and this ambitious environment can present occasional challenges. In our daily endeavours, we’re guided by our core principles — Never Settle, Get it Done, and Deliver WOW. We couldn’t claim the title of a global financial superapp if we hadn't upheld these principles consistently over the past eight years. Our team stands as our most invaluable resource, and we never compromise on talent. We meticulously select, nurture, and retain the finest individuals, providing them with dedicated support to achieve greatness. Our objectives are openly discussed and mutually agreed-upon between supervisors and employees, ensuring that they not only inspire the company, but also ignite passion within every Revoluter. We firmly believe that clearly defined performance expectations enable us all to channel our focus on shared priorities and collaborative efforts where they’re most needed. We appreciate your input and encourage you to reach out to your manager to discuss any specific concerns you may have. Kind regards!

Pros

Ok pay compared in London, I like the product as a user

Cons

- Product managers are in a constant state of panic, nobody cares what you implement as long as it goes to production as soon as possible. - People are not friendly, I hated having meetings with my own team. - Tech is in a horrible shape, the ci pipeline can break for DAYS, but you still have deadlines to catch, so go figure lol. - There is no real test environment, only staging which can only have the latest master, this means that you ship things to production without actually seeing them running anywhere else, now I like automated tests as much as the next guy, but I still want to see my code running somewhere. - Finally I must mention, that I quit this job before landing the next one, I actually did not want to do interviews while being this stressed at work.

Hello, thank you for telling us about your experience. We're glad you like the product but sorry the role didn't work out for you. Revolut is growing incredibly fast and our ambition can require a lot from our people. Many Revoluters thrive on the pace, excitement and achievement and our obsession with delivering an ever better product. To help us realise our ambitions we hire the best talent we can find and we support them with the best technology and an environment where we can collaborate and learn from each other. We're sorry that it didn't work out for you. One of the stand outs from these reviews is usually the friendliness, hard work and talent of your colleagues so we're sorry if that wasn't your experience. We wish you the best in your next role.

Pros

As with all start ups, you’ll get the chance to have an impact and a lot of ownership in your work. If you’re interested in fintech Revolut is one of the top ones to have on your resume. Interesting projects and products you’ll be able to work on. If you have received feedback that you are difficult to work with, you are rude or aggressive with your team, these are actually valued at Revolut. So you can join and be your true self! Easy to climb the ladder, if Niklikes you, you can get any role you want even if you don’t have experience or maturity to execute it. Some success stories include VP of Revenue, Head of Retail Product, Director of Customer Comms and Head of People.

Cons

There are multiple reviews talking about being terminated for ‘performance’. This is true even though Revolut has been copying and pasting their response of “where people have left after a performance review, this follows formal review of discussion of their performance.” The fact that Revolut is pasting this reply when there are so many different instances of this exact feedback on Glassdoor should be a red flag for anyone considering Revolut as an employer (especially if you will need a visa). See latest WIRED UK article about employees being unfairly terminated. I’ve seen this happen to 8 people within my team in the last 3 months and that’s just who I work with daily. You will get a calendar invite for a meeting with your manager, you are told you’re being let go. You will see your team mates Slack deactivated and it will not be addressed by your manager or HOD. It’s become totally normal. For the founder Nik, he doesn’t trust anyone and severely disrupts teams workflows. Insisting on weekly presentations with every product owner presenting their roadmap and work. It is normal to be called incompetent, stupid, useless in meetings in front of your whole team. There are several resignations and mental anxiety from these meetings alone. I have personally heard in two meetings where he will tell people to consider firing their entire teams. You will be expected to work hard, work weekends, while never be sure of your job security (regardless of seniority) and endure verbal lashings. Expectation from Revolut? Do all this and the work of your terminated team mates - won’t hurt if you sacrifice your salary too!

Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback. As a current employee, we would urge you to escalate your concerns internally. Aggressive or belittling behaviour are unacceptable and should be reported to HR. We are a fast moving business and accept that our communication may sometimes be imperfect and we hope that continued training and clear guidelines will improve this. We dispute claims of unfair dismissal and use consistent messaging to explain our processes which include time for check-ins and feedback. If people have been let go, this follows formal reviews and a clear explanation of where an employee has not achieved the expected performance. This is of course a sensitive subject, and we try to manage this process with compassion and empathy. We’re sorry if anyone who feels this wasn’t their experience. It’s great to see that you’re enjoying the impact of working at Revolut and the projects themselves, and we really hope that we can improve your Revolut experience.
