Good engineers, but worst managers ever.

Pros

A few good engineers run the whole show; very focused senior managment & board of directors, but blind folded about acute toxic environment created by first line managers; NC office has a great management team, engineering and consulting teams and very welcoming work culture; Brand name;

Cons

It really depends on the geo and department you work with; NC - US is a awesome place; BNE engineering team is great aswell, support services is pathetic; Be cautious while signing job offer, ask about of hidden policies, extra work hours, weekend work in advance etc, which will never be reveilved initially or put in black and white, unofficial request's for additional work hours (although engineers put it a lot more hours); first line managers don't have any opensource back ground; No well defined processes in place; managers are good at blame game; forget work life balance; Managers are good with politics and telling blatent lies.

IBM finally taking over

Pros

There isn't really anyone out there doing what Red Hat does so if you're technical and get in to the technology or enjoy helping customers advance their missions with best of bread technology, Red Hat is solid.

Cons

Going on two years of quotas that aren't based on reality. You can't take an account that took 5 years to build and double it in 1 year as an example. This year because quotas are so high, there aren't sales funnels to support it so new oversight policies are in place that look to be only there to permit terminations without question. Back office processes are so broken some people have had paychecks not issued and it takes weeks to get benefits questions answered or issues resolved. It's really sad to see how far Red Hat has fallen.

Pros

Company remains very work from home friendly.

Cons

Where do I begin. This company was once great with an amazing culture and it has done a complete 180 in the last 6-9 months. Questionable hires in the executive suite have led to chaos and confusion, meanwhile the company is seeing revenues shrink quarter after quarter. Instead of addressing this, the company chooses to focus on political causes than alienate 50% of the employee base. The open culture is sadly now a thing of the past. Decisions are made with little to no input and NO regard for employee satisfaction or progression. Selling point used to be that we had an amazing culture thus we could pay less than our competitors. Now, we have the same poor culture AND are under compensated. AND everyone took a hit on their bonus because of ineffective leadership.
