Pros

This is just as much a Con as it is a Pro, but laid back culture. Ping pong, free drinks (as long as you like Red Bull, which I don't).

Cons

Pretty much everything else. I've never seen nepotism (that also extends to close friends), so rampant. 6 - 7 figure contracts given to un-vetted, unqualified people and/or companies that have inside relations to key figures in management. Blatant unethical decisions even beyond nepotism as well. Extreme lack of talent. I've never seen such a large grouping of unremarkable people under 1 roof. Exploitation. They love hiring Visa-based employees that, with the unspoken threat, get sent back to their country should they ever step out of line. Egos, especially in middle management. People who feel like the Red Bull brand actually somehow expand their worth, knowledge, and skills overnight. Red tape. Would you believe in one of the departments with only 50-60 employees, there's up to 5-6 layers of management? There's more Project managers then there are people to manage. How does that even make sense? Waste... being a privately held, and positive cash flow company, they waste money in all the wrong places. Overpaid consultants that literally do nothing all day, doing projects 3 times in a row because they fail all the time. Good luck trying to get into the upper echelons of leadership if you're not white and/or male. There's never been an American CEO for Red Bull North America, the single largest unit in the entire company. Go figure.

Politics, Arbitrary Decisions & Non-Existing Culture

Pros

- Young & active community - Fuschl Friday (Short working day) - Free Lunch with different options to choose - Location (The HQ is surrounded by a beautiful nature with mountains and lakes)

Cons

Company Culture: Undoubtedly, Mateschitz has built a strong international brand with an overwhelmingly positive perception globally. Perceptions that are associated with an adventurous, nonconformist, and anti-authoritarian lifestyle. Unfortunately, nothing you will find within the walls of the Red Bull HQ. The encouragement to think creative, opportunistic, and risk-taking ends on the very first day of your employment. It is an illusion portrayed by the external perception of the brand. Politics..Politics..Politics: There is a strong destructive political force within the company. Mateschitz is well known for keeping his circle of "friends" very close to the center of power, resulting in a company that is plagued by nepotism on every conceivable level. This subsequently causes arbitrary job placements with zero transparency. Although there are highly skilled managers to be found at the top & mid-management level, there are - sadly - too many "managers" that are simply not qualified enough to be anywhere close to their positions. Communication: One might think that a company that does such an exceptional job of selling its value proposition to diverse audiences would be more than capable of mastering its internal communications processes. Sadly, this is not the reality. Zero communication about restructuring processes and hardly any top-down communication, which leaves the impression of an unworthy management that simply does not care about the opinion of its employees. Black Lives Matter: Diversity simply does not exist. People who vouch for diversity are dismissed by leadership. The handling of the BLM movement has been utterly disappointing and reflects the right-wing view of leadership. This is what happens when your company is run by a 76-year-old white man who intends to build walls to keep refugees in their place. Personal Growth: This company does not - in any way - embrace change and individuality. It is unfortunate that the company attracts so many young professionals who have the ambition to contribute and grow within the walls of Red Bull, when in fact they would be better off in any other corporate in the world.
