Pros

Interesting projects and work. In my time working there I met a lot of amazing people.. sadly many of them have left, been fired (for no reason), or retired

Cons

Terrible management, absolutely awful. Many people in high positions that have no idea what they are doing... You will work long hours.. and weekends… often. It’s expected. You’ll have Christmas and Thanksgiving off.. The turnover is like nothing I’ve ever seen. You will be working with someone and the next day, they are gone. It’s hard to get anything across the finish line with quality with that fact. Lots of brilliant people working there that get very little mentorship, direction or support from their leaders. It often seems like no one knows what they are doing. Projects and deliverables of large initiatives like source books get put on hold because the CEO goes on vacation. We got a 1% merit increase last year while the leadership team chartered the private jet and opened several stores while our business and economy was down. RH will run you into the ground and then get rid of you. Run, don’t walk.

Pros

There were some genuinely professional, good people at the Galleries and in CM. Salary appeared to be a bit higher than industry standard...however now I undersatnd why.

Cons

Toxic CULT environment! Be prepared to work all hours of the day or night, and always on weekends!! Management at corporate was laughable, absolutely ZERO management skills! Intimidateing tactics and beyond BAD leadership. Managers would openly berate employees on conference calls and in the middle of open office space in front of co-workers. Zero training or onboarding, be prepared for self-learning on your own time. Everyone seems to be under the strange narcissist spell of Gary Friedman. Seriously, I understand the attraction if you are a fan of the RH style (as I was, and Failed to look at Glassdoor prior to taking the job) But if you want to maintain your health and continue to spend time with your family, RUN AWAY from this Toxic company!

Pros

Paid for some certifications. (Kinda expected of a company these days) Reverse commute from SF. (No Public Transportation options)

Cons

Really strange and unhealthy corporate culture, very disconnected from reality. Literally, they will tell you: Love us or leave us. The location is very inconvenient. The buildings are from the 80's. Mold growing in the walls, often teams are forced to move out of a building only to move again and again around a poorly aging campus. Either you are in traffic, paying bridge tolls, or living in the doldrums of Marin... Lunch options are limited and expensive. Worst traffic in the mornings and afternoons to get from/to the East Bay or North Bay. Lots of turns over, layoffs and departmental cuts. No one seems to have a game plan. Many people have been long-time contract workers, if a conversion is offered, often it comes with a pay cut. Yet the company spoils the top C-Suite while the crumbs are rarely distributed to the rest of the company. Example: no Christmas bonus and the X-Mas party wasn't even attended by the CEO, they were on the company private jet in Mexico (not exaggerating) Lots of nepotism and cronyism. If you don't know someone high up you might just be pushed way down. Many remote locations where other teams can hide away from responsibility and work. Everyone tries to be promoted to a leader but no one wants to be a worker. (Too many Chiefs, they give the VP title to anyone, but what are the VP over lol) Antiquated systems for POS and other inventory systems. Many spinning plates but not a lot of actual progress, just wheels spinning. No Matching 401k, crappy Health/Dental. Limited Salary Growth in roles. Weird 'start-up' like tables that most sit at (often giving everyone splinters) that are not modern or very ergo friendly. After being laid me off (a repeating pattern in all departments), had to fight them to get my unemployment. The State of California sided with me, just highlighting how little they care for the people who work/ed there.
