Pros

Always available overtime can make good money if you don’t like your family.

Cons

Poorly run business that only cares about SMR. The only breakdown company in the country that’s scared of recovering cars. Unrealistic performance figures and office based staff that are useless. Rather than fixing problems it’s easier just to blame patrols. Pay rise/ reviews are embarrassing. No progression unless you live in Birmingham or love brown nosing.

Benefits package is below market standard: e.g. Pensionable salary capped at basic rate band, not full base pay as provided by other employers; Enhanced maternity pay limited to 3 months (vs. 5–6 months elsewhere); Christmas party budget of £20pp is too low to be meaningful

Avoid if you want a life outside work

Pros

You sort of get out and about, but the area you'll work is most likely not the one you wanted to.

Cons

Drive time not accounted for in your day, break time not accounted for but they'll moan if you don't take one or moan you haven't done enough work because they overbooked your diary. Expect 4 jobs a day but book 7 or more. No time accounted for ordering parts, collecting parts or returning parts not used because they've randomly taken jobs off you and put something different on you. Job times changed to make it look like you have enough time even though you're working on the floor in all weathers.
