Pros

Exploring the world, generous salary, living costs, nice hotels, generous living quarters and generous discounts in different places in Doha.

Cons

A lot of racism onboard depending on where you come from. I got racial abuse from where I was from by many crew, supervisors and management because I didn’t fit in where they where from. In Qatar this comes across as acceptable by many. A customer once put in a complaint about me that was all lies, including that I had assaulted a member of crew. All crew where interviewed and I was still proven innocent and I still received a written warning over it. 12 hours minimum rest before a flight, not allowed out apart from 90 minutes. All timings are monitored. Scaremongered about going out while out station with a threat that they check up on you. A lot of supervisors onboard let the power go to their head and would treat crew very badly thinking they owned the company, and if the crew member defended themselves then they would be threatened to be reported to management in office. A lot of supervisors onboard would group the crew based on where they where from to keep a little party of them together. It felt discriminatory towards the crew where they where the only one from their nationality. Grooming department come round and check on you before each flight. This used to give me terrible anxiety due to the fact that they could remove you from a flight of you having a pimple, makeup wasn’t to their standard etc. They would make comments about your weight infront of the whole crew which is extremely embarrassing. Last time I checked they weren’t qualified doctors who can make comments about losing weight whenever I have a perfectly normal BMI.

Pros

Discounted tickets and opportunity of growth at the price of loosing or damaging your psychological and physical health.

Cons

Low salary 3190 qatary ryals, the lowest in Qatar. To compare secretary in the office gets 7000 basic salary. 10 hours working shift plus there might be need to stay 1 or 2 hours overtime without being paid for it. Scheduling for extra shift overtime on days off without previous agreeing and it is compalsory to come if u dont come they create problem they ask u to meet management and ask if u jad medical certificate though it was ua day off and u informed the company in advance that u cannot come to work. Disrespectful treatment. No respect and understanding. High demands and no rewards. No appreciation only negative feedback. If they need smthn from u they will call u 100 times but if u need smthn they r not approachable. If u need to change days of your leave due to valid reason u will get very fast response ' not possible, no slot available. The company has very low level of organizing even simple things. They always lose important papers and confuse info. No health insurance for ground staff. We can only apply for health card that can be used only in certain clinics and those clinics usually r very far and there r always long lines. it costs a lot just to get there and still u need to pay for medicines and appoinments with ua low salary while other employees have full imsurance (cabin crew for instance). Plus doctor mignt refuse to issue medical certificate because they r afraid of qatar airways! Because qatar airways told them not to issue med certificates for minor illnesses. It happened to me. I had flue i was coughing sneezing and had fever i went to the clinic after my shift to get medicines and certificate for the next day. The doctor checked my temperature he said i jad fever but he cant give me med certificate because it is not allowed to give medical certificates for minor illnesses. I was working though i was sick and everyone around was asking me why i came to work in such condition because it was very obvious i was coughing constantly and sneezing but i had to come because hamad international hospital decided i had minor illness and they could not issue medical certificate to me. Female staff are especially humiliated and neglected. Females are not allowed to come back to accommodatiom after12pm. Only twice per month It is possible to apply for curfew extension till 2am! And ua request will be 100 percent rejected if u filled the form with a pen that is not black or blue or if u submit it less than 3 days be4 ua planned Curfew extension date.. Plus they may loose the paper or hr might not send it to hub employee support so u wont be able to use it. Plus females r not allowed to move out from the accomodation and they have to seek companys approval if they want to get married. The company does not care abt staff. They force u to come for overtime quite often While as per law there should be 48 working hours perweek.we may have 54 with scheduled overtime shift plus no health insurance coverage. The company is violating human rights. The worst company ever! Very weak in planning and does not care abt employees at all. Staff are resigning every week and they always have shortage of manpower...
