Pros

Can get extra hours, decent pay, clean environment. Working in the bakery is a great way to interact with customers if you're into that sort of thing. Also, they have regular pay increases, so that was nice.

Cons

Managers are sometimes incompetent. If you have a problem with a supervisor and complain to upper management, you will get nowhere.

Pros

They really care about employees, they're really flexible with scheduling if you ever need time off. Also, they make sure you take breaks if you work more than 6 hours a day. Depending on the store and the people you work with you can develop great friendships over time.

Cons

If you work at one of the stores as a cashier or stacking boxes, it will feel like you are not being compensated enough for your work. Also, you will probably have to work weekends or close the store and won't get to go home till 12 or 1. You will be standing for long periods of time.

Pros

Profit sharing/retirement benefits are excellent. Employee owned company that is very family-oriented and can be fun. Great place for a first job in high school or through college because of the flexibility most store managers give to younger employees. Publix is better than any retail/grocery chain at cleanliness, customer service focus, and shopping experience. I live in NC now and others who have lived in Florida and Georgia miss it terribly.

Cons

Good ol' boy mentality with lots of uneducated management in most stores. I think the company has gotten better at advancing women and minorities, but they still have a long way to go. The corporate office is in Lakeland, which isn't the most progresssive place to be anyway.
